How can we help?

Find quick fixes below or email us if Chefness is not working as expected.

Connect OpenRouter

  1. Open Settings in Chefness.
  2. Tap Connect OpenRouter.
  3. Sign in to OpenRouter and finish creating the key.
  4. Copy the one-time authorization code OpenRouter displays.
  5. Close the browser, return to Chefness, and tap Paste Code.
  6. Tap Connect.

The one-time code expires after 10 minutes. If it expires or is rejected, cancel the connection sheet and start again. Chefness stores the resulting key in the iOS Keychain and never displays it.

You need an OpenRouter account for AI features. Some models are free; paid model usage is billed by OpenRouter. See OpenRouter’s FAQ.

Chat or imports cannot connect

  • Confirm your iPhone has a working Wi-Fi or cellular connection.
  • Temporarily disable a VPN or restrictive network filter and try again.
  • Open Settings and confirm OpenRouter shows Connected.
  • Try another model, especially if a free model is temporarily unavailable.
  • If authorization was revoked or expired, disconnect OpenRouter in Chefness Settings, then connect again.

Recipe import also requires the recipe website to publish supported structured recipe data. If Chefness says the site does not support extraction, try another recipe page or save the recipe manually from a chat.

Use local features again

Saved recipes, cooking history, dietary restrictions, and AI memories live on your iPhone and should remain usable without an internet connection. AI chat and remote recipe import require internet access.

  1. Force-close Chefness and reopen it.
  2. Restart your iPhone if the app still does not respond.
  3. Install the latest Chefness update when one is available.
Before reinstalling: deleting Chefness also deletes its on-device recipes, chat sessions, cooking history, settings, and preferences. Do not reinstall as a troubleshooting step unless you are comfortable losing that local data.
